Mr. Ling Zhi CTO of Europe & America
Mexico City, Mexico, 4 June 2025 – ZTE Corporation (0763.HK / 000063.SZ), a global leading provider of integrated information and communication technology solutions, has reinforced its commitment to inclusive innovation and customer-centered development at the GSMA LATAM Conference held in Mexico City. Ling Zhi, CTO of Europe & America at ZTE, delivered a keynote during the session "The Customer Knows Best: Meeting the Demands of the Connected Generation", highlighting how ZTE is driving smarter, greener networks across Latin America to meet the shifting user expectations.
"In today's fast-moving digital world, all the best networks should be developed with a customer-centered approach because the customer knows best," said Ling. "This philosophy is at the heart of ZTE's innovation strategy. We believe that technology must ultimately serve the people—making life easier, more inclusive, and more connected."
The session addressed the pressing need for telecom providers to keep pace with changing consumer behaviors. A recent study found that 87% of consumers in Mexico and Brazil are less loyal to brands than just two years ago, driven by rising competition and unmet expectations. With the same percentage of respondents also identifying chatbot services as important, the demand for seamless, intelligent, and accessible services has never been higher.
Ling Zhi showcased how ZTE's global best practices—through innovative deployments—are driving faster, greener, and more efficient network expansion across Latin America. To accelerate 5G rollouts and deliver high-quality service at scale, the company has introduced its award-winning UBR (Ultra Broadband Radio) solution. Recognized with the "Innovative Breakthrough in Mobile Technology Award" at MWC 2025, this all-scenario UniSite solution simplifies deployment, lowers costs, and improves network performance. Validated across major Latin American countries, it has achieved a 10–20% increase in capacity, reduced module count by 60%, and cut power consumption by up to 35%.
ZTE is also pioneering new 5G applications that are reshaping industries. At MWC 2025, the company partnered with GSMA's official media platform, Mobile World Live, to power the expo's first-ever 5G-A live broadcast. Using its "Minimalist Private 5G-A" solution—winner of the 2025 GLOMO Foundry Innovation Award—ZTE enabled 4K/8K ultra-high-definition streaming with uplink speeds of up to 2Gbps per camera, stable for over five hours with zero packet loss. The solution also reduced deployment costs by 40% and completing setup in just one day.
To support the region's push for sustainability, ZTE is working with partners to implement solar-powered solutions. In a recent solar reconstruction project, ZTE provided a hybrid power system combining solar panels and lithium batteries, enabling fully solar-powered site operation. These efforts aim to provide real value to communities, businesses, and the broader society.
"ZTE is committed to expanding our successful practices in the LATAM region. Our goal is not only to build better networks but also to empower people and promote social inclusion," Ling added.
Central to ZTE's approach is a full-link strategy that ensures every step of digital access is considered—from infrastructure to devices. Underscoring this commitment, Ling held up a ZTE smartphone during his speech to demonstrate the kind of affordable, high-quality device that can make a meaningful difference in people's lives. The company emphasizes the importance of such accessible smartphones as part of its mission to eliminate the digital divide in Latin America.
The company is also pioneering AI-native networks that offer real-time intelligence while lowering operational costs. In China, ZTE deployed a large-scale AI model for automotive manufacturers in partnership with its collaborators. This solution integrated AI-powered quality inspection into the production line, significantly improving efficiency and reducing error rates—demonstrating how intelligent networks can deliver tangible benefits to local industries.
ZTE's participation in GSMA LATAM 2025 underscored its long-term commitment to driving digital transformation in Latin America—guided by a deep belief in the power of customer-centric technology.
